Cristiano Ronaldo to hold talks with Erik ten Hag over Man United future

Man United are contemplating letting Ronaldo leave.

Cristiano Ronaldo is set to sit down for talks with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag over his future. Ronaldo's future is up in the air after he refused to come on as a substitute before leaving early during United's 2-0 win against Tottenham on Wednesday. As a result, Ronaldo was dropped from the squad for the Red Devils' 1-1 draw at Chelsea on Saturday and has been training away from the first-team squad. The 37-year-old is under contract at the club until the end of the season and while Ten Hag is keen to keep him, is aware that he may have to cut his losses and allow him to move on to pastures new. Ronaldo tried to leave the club in the summer but was unable to secure a move away after no side came in with an acceptable enough offer to convince United to sell. However, The Athletic are reporting that members of the club's hierarchy are now willing to let Ronaldo leave United due to his fractured relationship with Ten Hag and that the pair will hold talks with each other on Monday to decide what is best for all parties. United are said to be willing to offload Ronaldo for free, providing that they can find someone who is willing to pay his £360,000-a-week wages. Ten Hag will reportedly offer Ronaldo the chance to return to the first team, where he will be rotated and not a guaranteed starter.
