Derby have flatly dismissed Burnley’s frankly derogatory bid for Jeff Hendrick

You may have noticed but there is a new world order in the Premier League. The new £5 billion TV deal means everyone (probably rightly) assumed that chairman are swanning around their clubs like Scrooge McDuck, landing face first in piles of gold wherever they turn. To emphasise just how batshit crazy things have become Troy Deeney was valued at £30m, Jordan Ibe looks to be on his way to Bournemouth for £15m and Norwich are demanding £20m for Robbie Brady on the back of his Euro 2016 performances. Manchester United, meanwhile, are about to spend £100m on Paul Pogba with a further £30m to his agent. So everyone is cash rich and throwing it around like they're starring in a remake of Brewster's Millions. It's against this backdrop that Burnley, back in the top flight after one season in the Championship, have made a £3m bid for Derby County's Ireland midfielder Jeff Hendrick. Hendrick was hugely impressive during the Euros and his market value is likely to be at least three times that amount, especially with the new TV deal in place. What makes it more galling is that Burnley have already rejected a £15m bid from Leicester for Michael Keane so they seem acutely aware of how to try and take full advantage of a club that is flush with cash. You can't really blame them for trying their hand with a bid for Hendrick, but £3m was never going to wash in the current climate and is pretty insulting to both the player and Derby to pretend that he might be available for that price.
