Leicester City hold talks with Roy Hodgson over manager’s job

These are desperate times for Leicester City.

Not quite as desperate as they were before they beat Liverpool on Monday night, but still quite desperate all the same. The Premier League champions are looking for a new manager after the players owners decided it was time for Claudio Ranieri to be let go with the club hovering dangerously close to the relegation zone. At present, it appears that Leicester's owners have decided that someone else - someone with a proven track record of guiding teams away from the dreaded drop zone- would be better suited than Ranieri to the task at hand. That man, at least according to the Daily Mail, might well be Roy Hodgson, who guided England to their glorious last 16 defeat to Iceland at the European Championships last summer. Just the man. Then again, Hodgson did guide Fulham to survival after taking over in similar conditions. According to the Mail, Hodgson held secret talks (they're not so secret anymore) with club representatives in London on Friday, the very same day the football world mourned the departure of Ranieri. The report claims that owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha values the experience of the soon-to-be 70 Hodgson as he looks to move the club forward. As for now, Craig Shakespeare appears likely to continue on as manager on a short-term basis and he's expected to be in charge for the visit of Hull this weekend.
