De Gea, who signed for United from Real's city rivals Atletico in 2011, will become the world's most expensive goalkeeper if the deal does eventually go through. The news follows recent reports that suggested that Jose Mourinho and his staff were confident that De Gea would remain at Old Trafford next season after the club secured a return to the Champions League through last week's Europa League final win over Ajax.
