A winner. When he took over at Manchester United, the scales were tipped firmly towards Merseyside. After Jose Mourinho broke a tame enough record with Sunday's 3-2 EFL Cup win over Southampton - the United boss equalling Brian Clough and Fergie's League Cup triumphs with four titles now - Manchester United also asserted their dominance over English football.
In what has been a barren spell for the club - relatively speaking - the last three domestic trophies have still all come back to Old Trafford.
Two of those were major trophies and, because of Sunday's League Cup win, United have now surpassed Liverpool as the most successful English club with 42 major trophies.
Discounting Community Shield victories, second tier triumphs and even Super Cup wins, United have won 42 whilst Liverpool have 41.
