Tributes paid to Newcastle legend Pavel Srnicek who has died after a heart attack

Football has lost one of its most famous sons this afternoon with the sad news of Pavel Srnicek passing.

The former Newcastle goalkeeper suffered a serious heart attack while out jogging last week in the Czech Republic and was in a critical condition in hospital up until today https://twitter.com/stevewraith/status/678908855061979136?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw There had been a huge outpouring of support for the two-time Newcastle net-minder after the news, but sadly today it has been confirmed he has lost his battle for life at the age of just 47. https://twitter.com/PAdugout/status/681853831152545792 He enjoyed two spells in the north-east, his first between 1991 and 1998 and latterly when he was brought in as emergency cover for Shay Given in 2006. He was most recently a goalkeeping coach for Sparta Prague.
