Former Arsenal and Liverpool goalkeeper Alex Manninger has died aged 48, as confirmed by the Austrian Football Association.
Posting on social media, the Austrian FA announced: "The news of Alex Manninger's death is deeply shocking.
"With him, football loses a special person."
Manninger is best known to English football fans for the 39 games for Arsenal between 1997 and 2002, as he won Premier League and FA Cup titles.

Reports quoted in The Mirror, have indicated that the retired footballer died as the result of a traffic collision between his car and train in the city of Salzburg.
