AIB-GAA round up: Brosna and Ardfert claim All-Ireland football titles

The first Toughest champions of 2015 have been crowned

Over 12 months after they first began their club journeys two sides have been crowned AIB-GAA All-Ireland champions this evening in Croke Park. Both sides hail from the Kingdom,as Kerry teams continue to dominate the junior and intermediate championships. Brosna got the day underway as they faced John Mitchel's of Liverpool, whose previous appearance in a final saw them lose out to Skellig Rangers from Kerry in 2009 In a tight and frantic opening half, both sides looked nervous but Brosna led by 0-3 to 0-1 after 27 minutes when the Exiles got their first score of the game. The Kerry side added two more before heading into the break leading by 0-5 to 0-1. The second half was a much tighter affair as Mitchel's attacked from the off and with the opening two points of the half they piled on the pressure. However Brosna stayed firm and despite two monster scores from Conal McGlade and centre forward John McDermott, Mitchel's couldn't get the goal they needed to get ahead. The Munster champions got the insurance point on the stroke of full time from Timmy Finnegan and became the sixth Kerry side to life the junior title with an 0-8 to 0-05 win In the second game of the day Dave Griffin's goal after 20 minutes for Ardfert helped them into a half time lead of 1-6 to 0-3 over St Croan's of Roscommon in the AIB-GAA All-Ireland intermediate final. The Kerry showed all their experience in the opening half as they dominated in almost all sectors and the pattern continued after the break as they powered on for a comprehensive eight point win despite some late pressure from the Connacht champions. The win sealed the club's third AIB-GAA All-Ireland club football title in less than 10 years by a final scoreline of 1-14 to 0-9.
