Aidan Nugent, a member of Armagh's All-Ireland winning squad from last year and a former captain of the side, appeared in Armagh Magistrates’ Court today, facing four counts of sexual offences.
The offences are alleged to have occurred on an end of season trip to Miami on November 17, 2024, with two relating to sexual assault and two relating to causing a person to
engage in a sexual act.
Mr. Nugent stood before the court and confirmed his name and date of birth before confirming he understood the charges against him.
The senior investigating officer in the case told the court he believes he could connect the 30-year-old to each of the offences.
Mr. Nugent’s solicitor, Patrick Higgins, told the court that the former Armagh captain denied all allegations during a police interview and that the “only sexual activity that
occurred was consensual.”
District Judge Anne Marshall heard the case and granted Mr. Nugent continuing bail, on the condition that he does not make contact with the alleged injured party.
The case will return to court in June.
