Update on Armagh player who was airlifted to hospital after serious head clash

The news is good.

During an Armagh SFC game between his club Cullyhanna and Mullaghbawn, a clash between himself and another player after four minutes resulted in the match being abandoned after Casey was airlifted to hospital.

The match was also abandoned.

This morning a statement from Cullyhanna provided an encouraging update on his health.

A spokesperson said: “We are delighted and relieved that Pearse is making very good progress and is receiving the best possible care in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

“We would like to express our sincerest thanks to the many Gaels in Armagh and across Ireland who have been in touch with their good wishes following the incident in Mullaghbawn.

“We wish Pearse all the best as he continues his recovery and St Patrick’s will continue to do everything we can to support Pearse and his family who are very grateful for all the kindness they have received.

“We join the Casey family in reiterating our sincerest gratitude to all those who assisted Pearse, the staff in the hospital, the Air Ambulance personnel, the medical and support staff who attended Pearse on the pitch, the match officials and the entire Mullaghbawn club especially their stewards for the expertise and respect shown to Pearse. Thank you to all.”
