Bank holiday sees club action continue in Limerick, Cork Wexford and Offaly championships

Club waits for no man.

Cork's exit from this year's All-Ireland hurling championship last week means it's back to club action for the inter county stars down on Leeside. Round three of the senior championship saw St Finbarrs record a 1-17 to 0-10 win over Bishopstown in the big city derby of the weekend. Pa Cronin was best for the losers as he scored 0-8, while the victors are now through to play Midelton in the next round, as the county finalists from 2012 face Killeagh in the relegation decider. Elsewhere Glen Rovers enjoyed a 3-16 to 3-10 win over Bride Rovers, which guarantees them a spot in the last eight, but they were made to work for it by their opponents. Pa Horgan grabbed 1-7 of his team's total as they wait to see if they'll face Blackrock or Newtownshandrum in the last eight. The other Cork senior hurling club hurling clash saw Carrigtwohill overcome Ballymartle by 2-13 to 1-13. Erins Own await the winners of that after a game that failed to spark into life was separated by goals from Robert White and Shane Devlin. In Limerick and All-Ireland finalists Kilmallock are still without a loss in the local championship after a 0-25 to 0-7 win over Effin. Na Piarsigh beat Bruff by 6-17 to 2-5 as Kevin Downes grabbed 2 goals in the first half alone. Ballybrown also won their encounter with Croom by 2-18 to 1-12. Patrickswell booked their place in the latter stages with a 0-17 to 0-9 win over South Liberties, while former champions Adare got an opening win of the campaign with a 2-15 to 1-15 win over Doon. Murroe Boher also got their first win with a 1-13 to 1-11 victory that came late in their clash with Ahane. The decisive score coming from the hurl of Paudie McNamara in the final minutes. In Kerry and in today's action Kilmoyley beat Abbeydorney by 2-10 to 0-6 and are safely through to the county semi final after the win. In football action and in Clare there was just one game to be played with St Josephs Miltown getting the better of Doonbeg by 0-13 to 0-11 to set up a meeting with Ennistymon in the next round. Doonbeg now face St Senans Kilkee in the losers's round. In Offaly and Rhode's progress through Offaly remains unchecked after a 3-14 to 0-3 win over St Rynaghs, while Edenderry beat Clara by 3-5 to 0-10 on Friday. The star of the show was Sean Moriarty who took home the match ball with a hat-trick of goals. Elsewhere Gracefield beat Ferbane by 0-12 to 1-7, while Tullamore hammered St Brigid's by 7-13 to 0-3. Wexford's football championship also continued and St Martins were the weekend's big winners with a 1-16 to 0-4 win over St James's. Ciaran Lyng landed 0-8 in the comprehensive win as they led by 0-14 to 0-4 at the break. Adamstown beat Sarsfields by 2-9 to 0-13 and Starlights overcame Horsewood by 3-12 to 0-9 while Fetahrd overcame last year's intermediate champions St Fintan's by 0-9 to 0-5.
