A decision has been made by the Munster Council after a scoreboard debacle in the Cork Intermediate Championship clash beween Aghada and Kildorrery on Sunday, August 3.
The game was recorded as a draw, with the scores as Aghada 1-22 to Kildorrery 2-19.
However, Aghada complained that a point scored by them in the first half was incorrectly attributed to Kildorrery, putting the scores at 1-11 to 0-8 to the latter at half-time, rather than 1-10 to 0-09.
Aghada felt that they should have ended with a two-point win, and complained to the Cork County Board’s competitions control committee (CCC). They decided that the game should be replayed and set August 30 as the date for the rematch.
The club were not satisfied with this decision, and subsequently went to the Munster Council, who overturned the decision of the CCC and reinstated the original result.
Going into the final round of fixtures, Aghada are currently top of the group with three points, while Kildorrery and Ballygiblin have one each.
Scoreboard errors in hurling have been a big talking in the sport this summer, after the infamous mistake during Tipperary's All-Ireland SHC semi-final victory over Kilkenny.
