Crazy journey for club league game in Cork must surely be the longest in the country

What a trek.

If you play GAA and you hail from one of the bigger counties in Ireland, you'll be well accustomed to the long journeys on a Saturday or Sunday morning. We've often seen some mammoth journeys popping up in Donegal which, given its size, isn't all that surprising. For example, if Killybegs are playing Malin, they're looking at a four-hour round trip. With dodgy roads and often dodgier weather to contend with, it's never fun. But, while Donegal clubs are used to it by this stage, we really felt a tinge of sympathy for Glanworth GAA of Cork this weekend. Glanworth faced Castletownbere on Sunday and their journey to the match was a significant one, to put it lightly. https://twitter.com/glanworthgaa/status/960074153712898048 Two hours and 39 minutes!? For a club league game? Fair play. Glanworth travelled pretty much as far down as you can before you hit the Atlantic for crying out loud. Luckily, the players and management team were greeted by a fairly benign February afternoon, with the fresh breeze and crisp air after nearly three hours on the bus surely bloody glorious. https://twitter.com/glanworthgaa/status/960120727927128064 But, surely feeling somewhat weary after the long haul, the lads couldn't bring it home as Castletownbere won 2-16 to 0-8. I can only imagine that the trip home was even less enjoyable than the one there. On the bright side, though, travelling always takes it out of you. They'll sleep well tonight, at least.
