However, it seems that even the greats can be guilty of coasting on some occasions, and on the latest episode of the GAA Hour, O'Sullivan explains how former Kerry boss, Éamonn Fitzmaurice, took him down a peg or two on one occasion.
"I think it was 2013, I was kind of coming back from injuries, I was in Dublin at the time, and I was playing league games, but I wasn’t training. We were down a pile of bodies, and I was cheating through games really. "I was staying up maybe 60 yards but I wasn’t really doing any defending, or I wasn’t tracking or nothing because I didn’t have it in the legs."I knew what I was doing and Éamonn knew what I was doing, but I got caught for three or four moments like that where I was like ‘aw I nearly got there’.
"I remember Éamonn ringing me to say there’s video analysis tonight, you’re obviously not down for it, but I’m going to town on you. "I remember he went to town on me, and my phone was hopping all night off the Kerry lads going 'Jesus Christ, you’re dead at the weekend. Éamonn absolutely ruined you'."I thought that's grand, I knew it was coming, but he made me do it at the weekend before an away game, just me and him in the room going through it and it was mortifying, it was only the two of us. "By the end of it I was weak laughing because it was so bad, but I never got caught for it again.
"But sometimes you do need to be highlighted, it is embarrassing, but as a forward I was kind of sticking to ‘but that’s not my job, I’m a forward or whatever’."
