The Ulster side had a disastrous start to the season, being relegated from Division One, ousting their manager Paddy Carr, off-field issues involving the academy, and crashing out of the provincial championship at the hands of Down.
Aidan O'Rourke and Paddy Bradley took the reigns and managed to turn things around with impressive victories over Clare and Monaghan.
However, with the county championship over, you would have thought that McFadden and Bán Gallagher would at least take a week off, maybe even just a couple of days.
But to their credit, the two men answered the call for their club and delivered to turn their fortunes around, with McFadden scoring two penalties.
Jack McSharry, who was also involved with the county panel returned to Killybegs, to bolster the team and help them get a much needed win.
It was a strange score line in the end, finishing 4-08 to 0-17 in favour of Killbegs, with McFadden, Conor Cunningham and Ryan Cunninham getting the goals.
Other county players will no doubt be returning to their clubs this week, as they prepare for the championship this summer.
