Henry Shefflin revealed as new RTE hurling pundit

Earlier this week Henry Shefflin revealed that he would love to move into media work, just weeks after he brought the curtain down on his glittering inter-county career. He told reporters that he had entered into discussions to become a pundit, with speculation linking him to a role on Sky Sports or RTE, while it was also believed a number of newspapers had approached the former Kilkenny man. This afternoon SportsJOE understands that the 10-time All-Ireland winner will definitely not be part of the new Sky Sports line-up that will be revealed at their Championship launch in London next Tuesday. The British broadcaster is set to reveal the faces that will be analysing the 20 games that the station will show this year, and it's believed there are a number of new pundits on board, but Shefflin will not be among them. Sky is likely to add at least one new face to its hurling and football coverage to complement last year's panel of Peter Canavan and Jamesie O’Connor as well as Nicky English and Paul Earley. However SportsJOE has discovered that Shefflin will not be part of the line-up, which may increase speculation that he will be a key new signings for RTE, or may be about to land a lucrative radio slot.
