Westmeath hurling fans may need to do a double take when they check out the scoreline from Wednesday's Leinster Under-21 hurling clash in Cusack Park. The Lake County secured the most famous of wins over Kilkenny when Warren Casserly's goal helped them to a 1-11 to 0-12 victory, dumping last year's provincial finalists out in the opening round. The game was on a knife-edge up until the final minutes, with Kilkenny desperately trying to force their way back into the tie. They did win a late penalty in the sixth minute of injury time, which if converted, would have won the game for the Cats. But there was no griping from Kilkenny U21 boss Eddie Brennan after the full-time whistle.
