Con O’Callaghan is one step closer to completing an absolutely ridiculous year

Con O'Callaghan has a knack for winning these finals, doesn't he? Cuala were facing Kilmacud Crokes in the Dublin Senior Hurling final, undoubtedly the two best teams in the county. You get the sense that whoever won has a serious, serious chance of going all the way to lift the Tommy Moore Cup on St.Patrick's day. And the standard of hurling in Parnell Park proved that with Cuala going on to win their third successive hurling title, not bad. It was Darragh O'Connell that scored the first half goal and what a goal it was. https://twitter.com/eirSport/status/924287848232218624 The celebrations afterwards looked unreal but the Cuala lads could barely celebrate, they'd after given it their all. https://twitter.com/eirSport/status/924304559610220544 So that's an All-Ireland title for them and a successful defence of their Dublin crown but just to put it into context what one of their players did this year is phenomenal. Con O'Callaghan scored three points in the final but here's a list of titles that he has won.

• All-Ireland under-21 football Championship
• Leinster Football Championship
• All-Ireland Football Championship
• Dublin Hurling Championship

The only blemish on his record is the Dublin Football Championship, O'Callaghan wasn't involved in the Dublin's unsuccessful league attempt the day they lost to Kerry. And he's a humble lad too, speaking about his success after the Dublin's win over Mayo, O'Callaghan said:

"That's just the way it has fallen this year, I've been lucky to be involved in some pretty special teams, with the club, the 21's and with the seniors, so it's been amazing."

The 21-year-old is a near certainty to pick up an All-Star Award along with Young Player of the Year. The only crown that O'Callaghan has left is the successful defence of the Leinster Hurling Championship with Cuala, they are due to play the winners of Dicksboro and James Stephens in the Kilkenny Senior Championship final at the start of November, no doubt a tough task but one that Cuala will be relishing.
