Kerry club player produces worst excuse for missing training

Just when you think you've heard it all.

You think it couldn't possibly get any worse and then a group chat amongst a Kerry club drops on your lap and your whole belief system is shaken. You question everything you thought you knew - even about the bluffers. Every GAA player in Ireland could tell you a clinker from a group chat or just from some of the excuses that the young guns try to pull to avoid training. You'd get them in all shapes and sizes and different varieties and each would be as depressing as the next.

• I'm taking my girlfriend to X Factor auditions
• We're having a family dinner
• It's my granny's birthday

You wonder why on earth they bother telling the truth - honestly, what is going through their heads when they do that? What did they think would possibly come from those truths? Just make something up. Anything. Well the drama continues. A hurling club in Kerry were simply trying to organise training before a midweek game and it had all the usual antics you'd expect during one of these conversations. Training gets cancelled - lads can't agree on alternative. Nothing really gets planned - but it does... somewhere. There's always a Bull. Cue: The worst excuse of all time. Clothes shopping... Holiday clothes shopping... But he stands his ground. Now there's a game though, everyone's mood has changed. They lost. It could still be worse. You could be the lad from Meath who meant to text his girlfriend but sent it to the WhatsApp group instead.
