Laois club hurling tie abandoned after bizarre incident fells referee

A strange end to the game.

Borris Kilcotton took the abandonment of their junior club hurling championship match against local rivals Kyle in good humour but we'd be fuming if we had to replay this one. The Laois club were winning by three points with time running out, until a Kyle free was taken quickly and smashed into the referee, whose injury forced the game to be called off. Borris posted the update to their Facebook page and we can only join them in wishing the referee, Mr Scully, a full recovery from his wounds.   Cheers to Mark Brophy  for sending this our way.
