It was as if they were just messing us around.

From the ridiculous to the sublime - all in the space of seven days. It's nearly a rule of thumb at this stage not to write off any team from Cork but given their senior hurlers' shortcomings against Tipperary and their opposition on Sunday - it was very easy to fall into the trap here. But Cork are still Cork. Masters of the big performance with their backs against the wall, they did it again in the Gaelic Grounds. While the majority favoured Limerick going into the game, there was always the chance that Cork's running game would cause Limerick problems. Just as it had done in the All-Ireland semi-final last year. Just as it has done on numerous occasions in the past. And that's exactly how it transpired. Limerick started well with Gillane scoring a trademark worldie from the wing before giving Eoin Cadogan a joust for good measure - but that would be the last time their talisman would tip that battle. Cadogan delivered a virtuoso performance from the edge of the square earning himself the man-of-the-match award along the way. Eoin wasn't the only Cadogan brother on form on a proud day for the Douglas club however. On his return from injury, Alan was dynamite up front with Patrick Horgan while their deadly duo Coleman and Fitzgibbon were back in the groove.
