Cavan receive huge boost after red card suspensions are overturned

Cavan will welcome back suspended duo Dara McVeety and Conor Moynagh after they had their one-match suspensions overturned upon appeal by the Central Hearings Committee (CHC) on Thursday night.

Moynagh and McVeety were both suspended for the round three qualifiers after referee Cormac Reilly showed both players, as well as Down’s Anthony Doherty, red cards for their part in an end of game fracas. The duo were cited for "contributing to a melee", but were cleared to play by the Central Hearings Committee (CHC), who stated that the "infraction was not proven". Cavan went onto win 1-14 to 0-15 against Down to set up a round three qualifier with Tyrone at Brewster Park on Saturday and they will certainly be buoyed by the return of two of their best players. https://twitter.com/JoeBrolly1993/status/1012424268334948353 GAA Hour host Colm Parkinson predicted that Cavan would be in trouble without the two players and blamed Cavan midfielder Gearoid McKieran for instigating the incident which led to the suspension.

"They're screwed now because Conor Moynagh and Dara McVeety are out. They're gone and they can thank Gearoid McKieran for it," said Parkinson on The GAA Hour. "Gearoid McKiernan started the whole thing. He ended up getting a left hook into the jaw for goading [Darren] O'Hagan. He kicked the inusrance point to put them two points up. "It's out of character from Gearoid, I've never seen him acting like that before so we don't know what provocation was there but he completely goaded [Darren] O'Hagan who was already disappointed at having a game snatched away from him. "He's in his face after the point, then when the final whistle goes and he goes back looking for him again, ends up getting clocked in the side of the head. A free-for-all starts, McVeety and Moynagh get in the mix and now they're gone."

Now though, the complexion of this game has changed. Cavan's odds still haven't changed though, and a price of 4/1, and a handicap of +5 at 10/11 looks way too good to be true.
