He may be gone from our shores in a GAA sense, but the impact that Jim McGuiness has made in his spell as Donegal manager seems to have spread beyond just being a top class gaelic football manager. The former All-Ireland winning boss is now concentrating on his duties with Celtic after he stepped down from the inter-county scene last year, but it seems his services are still in demand. Ahead of this weekend's Champions Cup clash between Sarcens and Clermont Auvergne, the English Premiership side are hoping his powers of upsetting the odds and background in psychology can help them defeat the Top 14 outfit Rugby director Mark McCall revealed that they hired the former All-Ireland winning coach to give the players a pep talk this week ahead of the last four clash. He explained the background to taking the former midfielder inside their dressing room,

'When he took over at Donegal in 2010, they hadn't won a game for three seasons and hadn't won a championship for 19 seasons. He took them on a journey over four years and it seemed like a very similar journey to our own. He captivated the group for an hour. He is an extremely passionate speaker and he was fantastic for the players, who really enjoyed it. I am not from Donegal, but I studied the story from afar and admired what he did. He had a very interesting story.'
