‘He has scored that point a few times in training, he’s just an unbelievable shooter’

Roscommon forward Cathal Cregg has praised his sharpshooting teammate Conor Cox as an unbelievable shooter following the Rossies comeback win over Galway on Sunday.

Cox scored 0-5 (0-2f) during the win to compliment Diarmuid Murtagh's 1-3 as Roscommon took the Connacht title back off Galway in Salthill. https://twitter.com/GAA__JOE/status/1140280093392232449 The former Kerry forward has been a revelation for Anthony Cunningham's side and teammate Cathal Cregg has assured that his spectacular first-half point from the end-line was no fluke but rather indicative of the type of quality he has to offer.

"He can score off both left and right," Cregg told Colm Parkinson on the latest episode of The GAA Hour. "Like some of the points that he has scored the last couple of days, particularly that one in the first-half off the outside of the left foot on the left-hand side, it's unbelievable. "He reckons he did it at training last weekend so there might be some truth in that but I reckon he was definitely going for it alright. We've seen him do it in training a few times to be fair to him and he's just an unbelievable shooter. It's brilliant to have him."

The addition of Cox this year has given Roscommon a real edge up front and Cregg feels that his presence has been priceless as Roscommon look towards the Super 8's.

"Yeah he's an incredible talent, he's some finisher," added Cregg. "He's been great around the place. He came up and he's gelled really well into the panel. He's a great lad. He's been really good in the league but he really stood up against Mayo and Galway. We're just delighted to have him. "To have a finisher like that that can get four, five or six points in a Championship game for you is just priceless."
