The four Tyrone footballers sent off against Armagh last Sunday week have had their one-match suspensions upheld.
“The Gaelic Life” report Pádraig Hampsey, Peter Harte, Kieran McGeary and Michael McKernan will miss Sunday’s clash with Kildare unless they can apply to and convince the Central Appeals Committee (CAC) that their penalties should be overturned.
During their defeat to Armagh at the Athletic Grounds, a melee broke out during injury time, in which the game was paused for a lengthy period.
This was because several players got into a wrestling match with one another, and it took a while for everything to settle again.
Referee David Gough was keeping a close eye on the situation unfolding, and took his time when deliberating with the linesmen.
Firstly he sent off Armagh's Greg McCabe, which was met with a chorus of boos around the stadium.
However, what followed next shocked everyone, as Gough flashed the red to four Tyrone players, which certainly lifted the mood around Armagh.
Tyrone manager Ferghal Logan, claimed that they would review the situation and appeal it. Many thought that Padraig Hampsey in particular may get his suspension overturned as he didn't seem to be doing anything too malicious in the footage that was seen.
However, the GAA have remained firm in backing the match official, and the suspensions will carry through, meaning that they will all miss the next game against Kildare on Sunday.Cork star tracks down young fan he accidentally injured at Tipp game
