The wife of The Sunday Game's Michael Lyster saved his life with some seriously quick thinking

Thank god for Anne Lyster. If she didn't know CPR, everyone's favourite RTÉ presenter may no longer be with us. Last month, Michael Lyster talked to Ryan Tubridy on The Late Late Show about his heart troubles of the last few years, but they resurfaced last week when The Sunday Game presenter almost died from a heart attack at his family home. Luckily, a friend of Lyster's called an ambulance, while his wife was able to administer CPR to her husband as they waited for medical help. Speaking to the Sunday Independent, Lyster was blunt in describing what his wife did for him.

“Ann has had first aid training so she started doing CPR on me and was talking to the guys in the ambulance as they made their way to us," Lyster said.

"I came to sometime on Saturday but, to be honest, from the time that Vincent dropped me off until the following day I had no recollection at all of what had happened. You are in a hospital bed and people are saying to you ‘do you know what happened?’ but I didn’t. Everything was gone. It was very vague. She just went into action. Vincent [Lyster's friend] called the ambulance and the crew talked them through what to do. Anne has had first aid training, as have I, so that was the key to it".

Lyster also said he received a text message from Joe Brolly that was straight to the point - 'I hear you are still alive' - and hopefully we will see him back on our TV screens before the end of the championship.
