Tipperary GAA issue online plea to fans after player’s hurl goes missing

"Bryan O’Mara’s Hurley was taken from Semple Stadium last night."

A 73rd-minute point from Darragh Stakelum gave the Premier county victory over the reigning All-Ireland champions, putting them top of the NHL Division 1A and into a league final with Munster rivals Cork.

Despite the win there was woe for Holycross–Ballycahill man O'Mara, with the county releasing a statement on X stating that there will be 'no repercussions' if the missing hurl is returned.

It reads: "IMPORTANT PLEASE READ AND SHARE Bryan O’Mara’s Hurley was taken from Semple Stadium last night. If the person or anyone that knows the person that might have taken it, could they please let any member of the county team / board know. Once returned there will be no repercussions."

Naturally, there were those who found the funny side of the situation.

After the game, Tipperary boss Liam Cahill said: "Cork are that little bit more advanced than us. I don’t think I’m being any way political in saying that.

"They have a steady, structured team. They’re All-Ireland finalists from last year, and their currency now is silverware.

"We find ourselves in a League final. We’re delighted to be there. When a national title is on offer, you go after it.

"It’s going to be brilliant preparation for both sides for the 20th of April.”
