Vikki Wall reportedly close to another code-switch as deal with IRFU on the horizon

AFLW side North Melbourne are reportedly resigned to the fact that Vikki Wall will not return in the coming months, and will not fulfil the second year of her contract at the club.

Wall, the Meath and Dunboyne dynamo, was one of, if not ladies football's most coveted prospects in its recent exodus towards the AFLW. She joined up with North Melbourne after winning her second All-Ireland championship with Meath last year, and went onto become one of the club's best players in this AFLW season. But now, after one year of playing the game, Wall is reportedly convinced that her future lies in a different sport. As was the case with her fellow ladies footballers, given the way the respective calendars combined, Wall was able to play for North Melbourne before returning to Ireland for this year's Ladies football championship. The ladies football ended earlier than anticipated for Wall, however, with Meath losing to Kerry last weekend in the quarter final. It was in the mean-time when it emerged that Wall was eyeing up another code-change, with a deal with the IRFU on the horizon. Photo by Eóin Noonan/Sportsfile[/caption] It is being reported by the Irish Independent that she is close to agreeing a deal with the IRFU, with her end-goal to make the Ireland Sevens Squad for the Olympic games in Paris. The Ireland Sevens team may be difficult to break into, with the squad having become the first ever to have qualified for the Olympic Games, after a string of impressive displays over the last few years. It is unclear as of yet how the code-change will affect Wall's future as a ladies footballer, with Meath LGFA making no comment when we contacted them regarding the move.
