Former Real Madrid, Everton and Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has been reportedly sentenced to a year in jail for tax fraud, per EFE.
The 66-year-old left his role as Real Madrid manager earlier this year, and has since taken up a position as head coach for the Brazilian national team where he is expected to lead La Selecao at next year’s World Cup.
A Spanish court found Ancelotti guilty of concealing income related to his image rights in 2014, during his first spell as Real Madrid manger.
Despite the seriousness of the accusation, because Ancelotti is a first-time offender it is expected the one-year sentence will be suspended, meaning he won't have to serve any time physically in prison.
In most cases under Spanish law, if a person is given a sentence under two years for a non-violent crime, it is rare they serve actual jail time.
Carlo Ancelotti is one of the most decorated footballer managers of all time and is the only manager to win titles in all of Europe's big five leagues (Spain, England, France, Germany, and Italy).
The former Italian international footballer is best remembered for the 2013/14 season when he became the first Real Madrid head coach to win the UEFA Champions League in more than 12 years.
