Katie Taylor has suggested her final career fight could be at Croke Park after the 39-year-old beat Amanda Serrano again at Madison Square Garden on Saturday morning.
In an historic all-female card in New York, the Bray woman won by majority decision – 95-95, 97-93 and 97-93 – to retain her undisputed WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO women’s super lightweight titles.
The 39-year-old did not rule out retirement, either, after the fight, saying: “I don’t know [if I will keep going] but I just don’t want to fight Amanda Serrano again – she punches too hard! She is amazing.”
But when asked again later in a press conference if she had one more fight in her, potentially in Dublin, she said: “Maybe at Croke Park? That would be unbelievable.
“I said it in the ring: these people are spending their hard-earned money to come and support me, it means the world. I can’t believe this is my life, I’m headlining an all-female card at Madison Square Garden.
“Looking back at the whole journey, what an amazing life. These are nights I dreamed of as a kid, to be sitting here as a winner, I’m so happy, so grateful.”
A Taylor fight at Croke Park has long been touted, and fans are suggesting either a fourth fight with Serrano or the trilogy with Chantelle Cameron to round of the Bray boxers stunning career.
Before the fight, Taylor said: "I love Madison Square Garden. It’s obviously one of the most epic and iconic arenas out there.
“It would have been special to fight in Croke Park but there’s nothing I can do about that.”
