The Scouse knows a thing or two about digging deep and coming through difficult times and he was impressed with the fortitude displayed the pride of Ireland, another trait to go hand in hand with the skill and athleticism.

"She is fantastic to watch," Bellew said after a breathless fight of Taylor who dominated a 20-minute bout despite taking some big shots. "That was very hard physically. That girl made it rough and messy. "Katie hasn't experienced that before as you don't get that in the amateurs but she found a way to get there in the end."

All that's left is for Eddie Hearn to find a way to get her to Dublin for a fight that would sell out wherever it is.
