All-Ireland winning boss urges GAA to take harsh measures after actions of Cork fans

Strong words.

The 20-year-old - who starred in last year's final between the two teams and was also red carded against Cork earlier last season - was severely booed by the home fans at Páirc Uí Chaoimh after coming off the bench.

He then further invoked the ire of the supporters for his free-kick routine, which involves him standing over the ball before walking backwards and checking the wind.

However, their behaviour and booing has been roundly criticised in GAA circles, with the likes of former Tipp star Aishling Moloney and journalist Shane Brophy calling it out.

Speaking on the Examiner's Dalo's Hurling Show, Tipp's 2010 All-Ireland-winning boss called on the GAA to take preventive action.

He said: "It’s unacceptable. It has no part in our games. Do we want to say, 'every county boo away', all in, let’s go. No way. It has no part to play in our games, none.

"It has to stop. It’s not acceptable and I think the GAA need to be really strong on this.

He added: "You can see, when he put the ball over the bar, it’s driving him. It’s niggling a little bit and it probably can be an inch of motivation. But I just think we should block that out. We’ve never had it in our stadiums and I’d hate to see that creeping in."
