Marc O Sé on what it’s like playing for Jack O’Connor and if he should stay on as Kerry manager

"I think they have a bit of unfinished business."

Marc O Sé played under Jack O'Connor in two different periods with Kerry, so he knows more about his managerial style than most, and reveals what he thinks his old boss should do next. O'Connor maybe didn't get off to the best start with Marc and is brothers Darragh and Tomas O Sé, when he took the Kerry job in 2004 because he was replacing their uncle Páidí. However, he won them over, and had great success with them, winning All-Irelands in '04, 06' and '09, before returning yet again in in 2021 to help them win another. Speaking exclusively on the latest episode of The GAA Hour, O Sé shares his insight on what O'Connor would have been thinking going into Sunday' All-Ireland final against Dublin.

"Jack is a great manager. A great manager. He would have gone into that game with the Kerry plan, like 'what we're going to do'.

"I just think Dublin had that physicality. Just man for man - like they were saying James McCarthy didn't have a great game, but for me McCarthy was taking lumps out of fellas, going after them, and that's what you want. "If there was a transfer market tomorrow morning, you would go after James McCarthy straight away, the way he just goes after fellas. " The attention will now no doubt turn to the Kerry job and whether or not O'Connor and has team will stay on, but for O Sé it's a no-brainer.

"Jack has this kind of innate ability to go when he needs to go, and then put his hat in the ring when he needs to come back. I would like to see him stay on to be totally honest, for another year or two. "I think that these players need him at the moment, but I also think that the team need to stay on - Paddy Tally, Mike Quirke, Diarmuid Murphy, I think they need to stay on.

"I think they have a bit of unfinished business to do, to be honest, and I think they need to stay on and win another All-Ireland."
