Paul Mescal was among the special guests on the BBC's coverage of Sunday's All-Ireland Hurling final between Cork and Tipperary, and at least he was honest about the privilege!
Mescal, alongside his Dad Paul Mescal Sr, singer Tom Grennan and jockey and Tipp fan Rachael Blackmore at Croke Park, were interviewed at half-time of the All-Ireland final, and might have frustrated a few Cork and Tipperary fans stuck at home without a ticket.
Mescal said: "All-Ireland final is one of the most special days on the Irish calendar, to be here with my Dad, and we are so lucky to get free tickets to an All-Ireland final."
His father then said: "I am absolutely thrilled to be here sitting beside him. It’s phenomenal. This is the pinnacle of Irish sport. You have to be here to fully get the atmosphere. I’m neutral! I’m not going for Cork or Tipperary."
Mescal Jr then added: "Two people who aren’t neutral, we took their tickets!
"We’re so glad it’s being shown across the UK because it is a huge cultural moment every year. It’s a massive event for Irish people around the world."
Tickets for the All-Ireland final were like gold dust, with tens of thousands of Cork and Tipperary fans missing out following unprecedented demand.
