Tipperary senior football manager Philly Ryan has died suddenly at the age of 56.

Tipperary GAA released a statement on Saturday to say they are “deeply saddened” by the “very untimely death”.

Ryan, who was appointed senior football manager for the 2025 season, won five county championships as a player, and represented Tipperary for 16 years as a goalkeeper.

Tipperary GAA said in the statement: “The loss of Philly Ryan is a great blow to Tipperary football.

“We honour his memory, his service and his love of the game — and we commit to carry forward his legacy of ambition and community spirit.”
