Conor McGregor should use ‘borderline illegal stuff’ against Floyd Mayweather, according to top coach

How on Earth does Conor McGregor expect to beat arguably the greatest defensive boxer ever in his debut?

The general consensus is Conor McGregor's only hope is to not play Floyd Mayweather's game. That's a big ask considering they will duke it out in a ring, under boxing rules, wearing heavier gloves and be under the watchful gaze of a referee and judges from the world of pugilism. Outboxing the boxer probably isn't the smartest move, so 'The Notoriosu' will probably have to find some alternative path to victory within the ruleset. Elbows may be out of the question, but Firas Zahabi has suggested that McGregor should use some other questionable tactics in order to get his hand raised. https://twitter.com/SportsJOEdotie/status/882269560040296448 The Tri-Star head coach explained his thinking behind the bold tactical suggestion during his pre-fight analysis of the spectacle. He believes that McGregor's grappling prowess and physicality could be implemented to cause 'Money'  all sorts of problems.

“I would take it a different approach. I would rough Mayweather up. Rough him up, physically. Grab him, throw him, drop him on the floor, do borderline illegal stuff. Get him thinking ‘what is this? I don’t know how to grapple with this guy. I don’t know what an overhook is. I don’t know what an underhook is. I don’t know what this type of clinching is.’”

Zahabi went a step further, expanding on the dirty tactics he would promote if he was masterminding McGregor's game plan for the diamond-encrusted panty night.

“If McGregor was my student and I was coaching him, I would tell him every time, ‘you can rough him up. Grab the back of his neck. Trip him. Shove him into the ropes. Shove him through the ropes, whatever. Rough this guy up, make him forget about boxing. And of course, look to land the left.”
