Tipperary and Clare record convincing wins as oneills.com U20 GAA All-Ireland hurling championship hots up

Tipperary maintained their perfect start to the oneills.com U20 GAA All-Ireland hurling championship on Friday.

But Brendan Cummins' side had far too much for their opponents, with a Senan Butler hat-trick inspiring them to an eleven point win on a final score-line of 3-20 to 0-18.

The home victory ensures that Tipperary remain at the top of the table heading into the final round of games, and they are now highly likely to take the direct route to the Munster final. Kilsheelan/Kilcash club-man Butler was the star-of-the-show in FBD Semple Stadium but he had ample support from the likes of Darragh McCarthy, Paddy McCormack and Oisin O'Donoghue.

As for Cork, they are still guaranteed a place in the Munster semi-final where they'll more than likely face Clare, unless the Banner can defeat Tipperary by more than 12 points in their clash this Friday.

Clare defeat Waterford by 16 points

Conor Whelan, James Organ and Sean Rynne were in fine form for Clare on Saturday afternoon, as Terence Fahy's side recorded a resounding win over Waterford in Cusack Park.

The trio hit 1-21 between them as Clare bounced back from their six point defeat to Cork in the previous round of games.

It's into the knock-out stages in Leinster, with the province's two quarter finals taking place this Wednesday night. Offaly will host Laois in O'Connor Park as Wexford travel to Donnycarney, to take on Dublin in Parnell Park.

On Friday, the group stages of the Munster championship will come to a close with the final round of games taking place.
