Whelan and Screeney light it up as big week beckons in oneills.com U20 GAA All-Ireland hurling championship

Despite losing to Clare on Friday evening, Tipperary are still going straight through to the Munster U20 hurling final.

The magnificent Conor Whelan was the star of the show for Clare in their 0-18 to 1-14 win over the Premier in Semple Stadium.

The Whitegate club-man has been a leading light for Clare throughout this championship and he was in stellar form once again, racking up an incredible 0-16 tally, including the last two points of the game.

Six of Whelan's points came from open play in what was a sensational showing from the youngster. Tipperary's superior score difference kept them ahead of Clare in the table, with the Banner now preparing for this Friday's semi-final against Cork, which will take place in Cusack Park Ennis.

Meanwhile, the Limerick U20s got their first win of the campaign with a one point, 0-20 to 1-16 victory over Waterford on Friday evening. Oisin O'Farrell and Cian Scully were the scoring stars for them but unfortunately for both counties, they are now out of the competition.

There will be games in the oneills.com U20 GAA All-Ireland hurling championship every weekend from now until the first weekend of June.

Screeney points the way for Offaly

Adam Screeney was the man-of-the-moment for Offaly as they defeated Laois by sixteen points last Wednesday, to progress to the semi-finals in Leinster. Screeney scored 0-15 for Offaly on a day when Dan Bourke also impressed with 1-3 from play in their 1-28 to 2-9 victory.

Last year's beaten All-Ireland semi-finalists now have a semi-final to look ahead to, this Wednesday against in O'Connor Park Tullamore.

Dublin end Wexford's interest in the championship

Diarmuid Ó Dúlaing, Jamie Conroy and Neil Hogan were the scoring stars for Dublin as they defeated Wexford in Parnell Park on Wednesday evening. The victory sees Shane O'Brien's side through to this Wednesday's semi-final, where they will take on Galway.
