Dublin GAA seemingly hitting back at media over Diarmuid Connolly coverage

Dublin GAA have decided to restrict the number of post-match interviews in the wake of Diarmuid Connolly's 12-week suspension.

The current All-Ireland Champions came out as victors by 31 points in a one-sided contest against Westmeath on Sunday as they reached their seventh consecutive Leinster Final but have reportedly refused one-to-one broadcast interviews according to RTÉ. RTÉ's Marty Morrissey spoke of the decision on the Six One news but revealed that Dublin refused to undertake one-to-one interviews with broadcast media. The presenter said that he believed the decision was made due to the coverage of incident in which Diarmuid Connolly received a 12-week suspension for laying hands on a linesman. However, broadcast media were allowed to attend the post-match press conference along with all other media outlets. As per FM104, Jim Gavin spoke out about the aftermath of Connolly's altercation with linesman Ciaran Branagan. "What concerned me was the way (Connolly's) good name was attacked before we even saw the referee's report. "We had the national broadcaster in their post-match review. Both Pat Spillane and Colm O'Rourke, particularly Pat, they had a predetermined statement. "We saw on Sky Sports the rulebook being read out against him." Jim Gavin's side next plays Kildare in the Leinster Final on 16 July.
