The presenter said that he believed the decision was made due to the coverage of incident in which Diarmuid Connolly received a 12-week suspension for laying hands on a linesman.

As per FM104, Jim Gavin spoke out about the aftermath of Connolly's altercation with linesman Ciaran Branagan.
"What concerned me was the way (Connolly's) good name was attacked before we even saw the referee's report.
"We had the national broadcaster in their post-match review. Both Pat Spillane and Colm O'Rourke, particularly Pat, they had a predetermined statement.
"We saw on Sky Sports the rulebook being read out against him."
