“He’s the ginger Messi” – Sean Cavanagh marvels at Tyrone’s special talent, Peter Harte

Sean Cavanagh has seen a fair few decent footballers come through the gates of Garvaghey.

Since 2002, the Moy man has been an outstanding figure for his county and he's watched three or four different teams come and go in his 16-season stint with Tyrone. Men like Peter Canavan, Brian McGuigan, Stephen O'Neill. Soldiers like Kevin Hughes and Enda McGinley. Warriors like Ryan McMenamin, Conor Gormley, Philip Jordan. The best of them. And the list is endless. Dare say it though, he's currently in the company of some great talents. Some of the finest. It might only be Niall Sludden's second season with the inter-county team he's lighting the place up. Colm Cavanagh has gone from underrated to a real leader. Mattie Donnelly is only getting bigger and better. Some of the stuff he can produce is laughably crazy. It's mouthwatering. And Sean Cavanagh sees it every day. Speaking on the latest GAA Hour football show, Cavanagh raved about Tyrone's unique talent and bestowed the highest possible praise on his shoulders.

"He definitely is the ginger Messi. He's amazing, some of the things he pulls out," the Tyrone legend said of Harte. "But, look, he works ridiculously hard and that's the one thing about any good player that I've ever come across, any player that's performed at the top level. "It's whenever you dig down and realise the amount of hours he's spent away from the group working on his game. "He's a fantastic talent and we're blessed that we have him."
